Pink Violet is a short film made in Alaska by college students in the University of Alaska, Fairbanks' (UAF) Department of Theatre & Film program. The film follows Dana, a theater-obsessed college student who goes to extreme lengths to get into the mind of her character. Her commitment scares her father, Jeffrey, and her friend, Jody, into believing that she is suicidal, pushing them to try to save her from herself.
Behind the Scenes
UAF Film and Performing Arts graduate, Keziah Anderson, wrote, directed, and edited Pink Violet as part of UAF’s Department of Theatre and Film courses, Film Production I & Film Production II. These production classes, taught by Maya Salganek, aim to teach students the filmmaking process by filming a short film over the course of a semester. Each student is assigned a crew position, with Film Production II students taking key positions as well as helping mentor the less experienced Film Production I students in their respective roles.
